Tinus Brink krijgt oorkonde voor jarenlang ophalen oud papier in Gieten EO
Herman © Van Oost Media Gieten, 19 januari 2023 – Tinus Brink kreeg vanmiddag een oorkonde van burgemeester Anno Wietze Hiemstra voor het jarenlang ophalen van oud papier en ijzerwaren in de gemeente Aa en Hunze. ’Rooie Tinus’ deed dit ruim 50 jaar, met name in Gieten.
Rode tractor
Brink was met zijn rode tractor – mét kar vol oud papier – een markant gezicht in Gieten en omstreken. Lang voordat de tractor kwam haalde Brink overigens al spullen op. Hij startte als kind met een bakfiets. Daarna kwam er een motorkar, toen nog een motorkar en uiteindelijk de iconische trekker. Maar dat was niet alles wat hij deed, vertelde burgemeester Hiemstra in zijn toespraak: “Zo stond u ook bij uittocht van de TT aan de rotonde in Gieten ijs te verkopen.”
Val
In 2019 viel Brink, met een kapotte knie tot gevolg. Volgens burgemeester Hiemstra werd Brink direct node gemist in het dorp: “Dat bewijzen de ruim honderd beterschapskaarten die u kreeg na uw val. Bovendien stapelde het oud papier zich op in Gieten.” Brink kan inmiddels niet meer op de tractor zitten. Toch is Brink allesbehalve vergeten in het brinkdorp. Burgemeester Hiemstra: “U hoort bij Gieten. Mocht er ooit weer een boek geschreven worden over dit dorp, dan zal er ongetwijfeld een hoofdstuk over u in staan.” Burgemeester Hiemstra gaf ‘Rooie Tinus’ een oorkonde voor zijn verdiensten.
